Advanced Class A CDL Training

The 18-week Advanced Class A CDL Driving program provides in-depth training on topics like vehicle maintenance, trip planning, and hours of service as well as additional hours on the range and on the road. Heavy truck & tractor-trailer drivers with a commercial driver’s license transport goods from one location to another. Driver schedules can vary depending on the route. Travel can be local and completed within a day, or regional/national which can span several days on the road.

Most commercial drivers work for transport companies, but some may own or lease their own tractor-trailer and work for themselves. Commercial drivers and those with careers in supply chain management play a key role in the economy and enjoy a variety of benefits.

Dawn’s Advanced Class A CDL Driving program includes the technical training needed in areas such as Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration rules, vehicle inspection, vehicle maintenance, driver dispatch, trip planning, hours of service, driver logs, trailer weights, and vehicle operations on the range and on the road.

Commercial drivers are required to have expertise in a variety of areas. The Advanced Class A CDL Driving program provides additional in-depth training on vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting. Students will learn to detect problems and how to effectively communicate them when a problem is identified. This is an important skillset for driver safety that can save valuable time when out on the road.

The advanced 18-week program includes vital instruction on effective trip planning, managing hours of service, and the importance of gross weight and axle weight in real-world settings. The program also offers 80 hours of additional training on the range and on the road, leading to more competent, well-rounded student drivers. While employment is not guaranteed, graduates of the Advanced Class CDL Driving program with this additional training will be better prepared for potential employment opportunities and may be eligible for entry-level positions with employers offering local routes that may be more desirable for some drivers.
