What You’ll Learn in the Class B CDL Driving Program at Dawn Career Institute
Commercial drivers with a class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) enjoy a wide variety of employment opportunities. Companies in all types of industries are looking for qualified, licensed truck drivers, straight/box truck drivers, route drivers, and delivery drivers.
Introduction to CDL Theory
This course begins by preparing students for the written portion of the CDL test, which is required to obtain a CDL Learner’s Permit, which is necessary for the on‐road portion of the program. In addition, students will be provided with credentials to log into an online learning management system to complete modules in compliance with the FMCSA’s Entry Level Driver Training Standards for theory instruction, as well as preparation for pre-trip inspection, backing skills, and road driving lab sessions.
Class B CDL Skills & Road Test Preparation
This course includes the hands-on practice of commercial truck driving. Students complete inspections and practice backing, parking, and driving skills. Students complete skills both on the range and out on the road. Students prepare for the skills and driving portions of the Commercial Driver’s License exam and must demonstrate competency in compliance with the FMCSA’s Entry Level Driver Training Standards for behind the wheel training.
